Alleged robber arrested near A&M campus

UPDATE - At approximately 8:46 a.m., officers with the College Station Police Department were dispatched to Equity Real Estate located in the 200 block of Wellborn Road in regards to a person with a gun. Upon arrival, officers were told that a black female had entered the business carrying what appeared to be a handgun. The female asked to use the telephone and asked for a ride. The employees of the business refused and she left the scene. She was last seen walking north.
At approximately 9:50 a.m., officers detained an individual matching the description of the person who was in the Equity office in a nearby vacant apartment. She was taken into custody and transported to the College Station Police Department where she is being held on unrelated charges. This female is also a “person of interest” in the Aggravated Robbery that occurred earlier at the McDonalds’ restaurant. Due to the fact that this investigation is ongoing, the identity of the female is not being released at this time.
At approximately 5:38 a.m., officers with the College Station Police Department received a call reporting an armed robbery in progress at the McDonalds located in the 100 block of George Bush Drive West. Upon arrival, officers found that all of the employees and customers had exited the building, however, it was determined that the suspect was possibly still inside. As a result, SWAT was called to the scene to search the building and roads in the area were blocked for safety purposes. The building was searched and the suspect was not located.
Witnesses told police that shortly before the 911 call was made, an employee exited the back of the resturant to take out the trash. As the employee opened the door, the suspect pushed him aside and entered the resturant. The suspect went directly to the manager’s office, pointed a gun at the manager and demanded that the manager give her the money. The manager complied and the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed sum of money. Nobody was injured during the robbery. The suspect was described as:
Approximately 5’6” / heavy set
Short curly black hair with extensive blonde highlights
Dark colored shorts
White shirt with a blue design
At approximately 9:50 a.m., officers detained an individual believed to be the suspect in this case. Her identity will be released once positive identification has been made by witnesses.

COLLEGE STATION - According to Texas A&M's Code Maroon Twitter, an armed suspected was arrested this morning.
In a separate tweet, the gunman was described as a heavy black female wearing a white shirt.
