A new $1.2 million dollar clinic is almost complete at The Alpine Church of Christ in Longview. It will provide crucial health services to those who can't afford insurance.

The clinic, which offers services for hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes and obesity, has been at the church since 2008.

A recent surge in patients has prompted the church to expand the facility. The $1.2 million dollar expansion was funded by donations from church members.

All doctors and nurses at the clinic volunteer their services.

Compassion Clinic Minister Nany Lifsey says with the implementation of The Affordable Care Act, she expects the amount of patients the clinic sees to continue to increase.

" It continues to grow steadily, when you don't have a job and your health is so poor you can't work..there's not anything for you right now. We're gonna continue to provide this service until there's something in place for them because they just don't have options of care."

An open house to unveil the new facility will be held thursday from at 5 o'clock at the church located at:

610 E Loop 281, Longview, TX 75605
