For police officers in the city of Alto, it has been a real roller coaster.
The force was disbanded last summer when the city ran out of money, but the City Council has now reinstated the department, and chosen a new Chief.
The Alto City Hall closes early on Fridays, but posted on an outside bulletin board was the news the city wanted to hear.
The Council voted to hire a new Police Chief and restart the department.
Former Alto patrolman Jeremy Jackson is now the Chief, and when we went to talk to him, he was out and for good reason.
The entire force is Jackson, and one other officer.
So now Alto has it’s Police Department back. But will two officers be enough?
Not according to former Chief Charles Barron.
But Jackson says, they’ll make do.
Jackson told us that when he and his officer began the day watching school zones, they were met with applause, honks and thumbs up.
It seems the city is pretty happy to have it’s police back.
