Americans Losing their Religion

March 9, 2009 - 6:17pm

TYLER-There was a time when family and religion was the backbone of American life. But now a study in the New York Times is showing more Americans are losing their religion.

The recent study found that the number of Americans with no religion rose in every state. This brings the total to 15 percent nationwide.

Many experts believe having no religion and no family to lean on has caused many of the major problems facing Americans right now.

The study shows the number of Catholics is dwindling in the Northeast and growing in the Southwest. Also the number of Protestants is dropping.

And religion isn't the only pillar in people's lives that seems to be strained right now. Some Americans are also seeing less of a support system when it comes to family as well. In the past, many Americans lived and worked close to other immediate relatives. Now many Americans are being forced to move wherever a job is open. These miles between a person and their family is just one of the recent trends forcing this pillar to crumble.

Actually he said that America is not longer JUST a Christian nation, but also a nation of Jews, Muslims, etc... He's right. We have something called the SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE which means that our nation can not be a nation of just ONE faith, because we all have the liberty to practice whatever religion we choose. If the fact that America is not made up solely of Christians breaks your heart, then you must have a fundamental problem with the way the country was founded.

Thank you. I read the verse and I think I do see your point. It is heart-breaking to think that an overwhelming (and growing) majority of the world's population might spend eternity in Hell because they don't believe. I guess we'll have to wait for God's judgement on who is worthy.. As for me, I trust in my own beliefs and choose not to judge others for theirs.

Those numbers are a kind estimate. Truthfully about 2% of Americans are true Christians while majority of these so called christians or "Sunday" morning church goers are the ones ruining everything and setting bad examples for this nation.

People have been saying "the end is here" for thousands of years. The Bible says that no one can see the future to know when the end will be, so what makes you different? The book is called Revelation, there is no 's' at the end. Oh, and His name is name is Jesus CHRIST.

Ever think that people are tired of the Fire and Brimstone stuff? What happened to love, forgiveness, and acceptance? No wonder people are losing their religion.
