Ammo shortage in east Texas

TYLER— Gun enthusiasts might have trouble restocking their barrels in the near future. Jessica Savage of the Lufkin Daily News reports their is a nationwide shortage of ammunition for handguns.

Gun sales were through the roof a year ago when President Barack Obama became the clear favorite to win the election. The ammunition demand has been just as high and it seems their won't be relief anytime soon according to local suppliers.

The FBI's criminal background check reported nine million background checks for gun sales issued January through August. This was an in increase of 21 percent from the previous year in the same time frame.
