DALLAS - Let's take a look back at a big story on this date in history.
In 1963, a gunman assassinated President John F. Kennedy while he was riding in a motorcade in Dallas.
A bullet also seriously wounded Texas Governor John Connally, who was also in the convertible.
The 46 year-old Kennedy was pronounced dead thirty minutes later.
Later, Vice President Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as the 36th President of the United States.
Within hours, police arrested Lee Harvey Oswald for the murder.
