The annual BEE for Literacy, a luncheon and adult spelling bee to benefit the East Texas Literacy Council (ETLC), will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Pine Tree Junior High School cafeteria, 2100 W. Loop 281.

Various businesses, churches and civic organizations field teams of three people each to participate in the BEE, with other members of those groups coming out to cheer them on.

Many of the teams wear costumes or comic headgear and the event is light-hearted and fun, Slade said.

Tickets are $15 and are available at ETLC, Barron’s Books and local branches of Texas Bank and Trust. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
