About Kid' Fishing Day:

Kid’s Fishing Day was started 21 years ago as a partnership between the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the City of Longview Parks and Recreation Department. Kid’s Fishing Day is now hosted by City of Longview Partners in Prevention with a partnership between and Texas Parks and Wildlife and Sportsman Bass Club. The purpose was to create an opportunity for urban area kids to be introduced to the sport of fishing.

From: City of Longview

Teague Park Lake provides the perfect setting. At Partners in Prevention, our hope is for children to become involved in this sport and learn life-long skills along the way such as patience, self-esteem, coping mechanisms for disappointment and frustration, and most importantly, a positive alternative to drug and alcohol use.
