HENDERSON COUNTY — Coffee City kidnapping and murder suspect Jackie Guthrie was found in Galveston late last night and taken into police custody.
The 19-year-old Tiffany Hurd whom he kidnapped...is safe...and today she's back at home.
On Friday night, East Texans who knew Chantel Barrett and Tiffany Hurd held a prayer vigil...in rememberance of Barret who had been allegedly murdered by Jackie Guthrie the night before...and to pray for Hurd's safe return -- she's pregnant with Guthrie's child.
Just a few hours later, their prayers were answered.
Tiffany's mother Rhonda Brown tells KETK, she got a call from her cousin.
"She stated that my daughter had been found and she was located in Galveston. And they found them at a bar or something like that," Brown said.
Knowing her daughter was safe...she could rest easy.
"I can say that I got a lot of sleep last night...and a lot of burdens just kind of lifted up off of me," she said.
KETK was there Saturday morning as Tiffany's family brought her home...wrapped up in a blanket, she was understandably too upset to speak on camera about her horrific experience.
"Right now, she's just been a little bit distraught right now...but she's doing ok. She's...you know, she's kind of let down from a lot of things but...feeling a lot of sympathy for the parents that lost her best friend," she said.
Brown says she appreciates all the prayers that Tiffany would be ok...and she is...a happy ending that is hard to come by in situations like this.
And a testimony she hopes to share with others.
"I just wanna say to the family of Mr. Guthrie that...we are praying for him...that he have a change in his life," Brown said.
KETK spoke with Henderson County Sheriff Ray Nutt this morning -- who tells KETK Guthrie is still in the custody of officials in the Galveston area...he'll be brought back to Henderson County within the next few days.
