Area forklift drivers show skills, compete for bragging rights

Some of Gregg County’s best forklift drivers learned and played Tuesday at the first Forklift Rodeo held by area economic development corporations.

Twenty-six drivers representing 21 companies showed off their skills — navigating two hair-pin obstacle courses to the applause of their peers.

“It’s very different than what we do every day,” said Joe Gonzales, whose chance to advance to the finals was ended after he was docked points for failing to zig-zag between a stretch of cones. “It is much harder and more of a challenge.”
