Armed standoff in Gregg County

September 29, 2009 - 11:10am

TYLER— The Gregg County sheriff's department were alerted of gunfire Monday morning. Captain Mike Claxton says shortly before noon, deputies were on their way to serve an emergency detention warrant. That's when a report was received of a man shooting a gun outside his house.

When the deputies arrived to the address on Burnham road, they said the man was carrying two firearms. The man fired two shots off after the deputies arrived.

The SWAT team would later arrest the gun-wielding man and was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
