Athens may have alcohol option on ballot in May
Several East Texas alcohol options failed in Tuesday's election... and now another city may give it a shot this May.
A group in Athens submitted petitions requesting two alcohol propositions to be added to the ballot.
One asks for the sale of mixed beverages by restaurants, and the other would allow for beer and wine to be sold in convenience or grocery stores.
Over a thousand signatures are on each petition - well over the number needed to get it on the ballot (if each signature qualifies).
