SMITH COUNTY - A man is in custody after a short chase that began in Tyler and ended at County Roads 2195 and 756 in Smith County.

Authorities say the chase began after Tyler Police responded to a theft report. Upon arrival, officers spotted a man that fit the suspects description. The man fled in his vehicle, later crashed and was arrested.

Whitehouse Police, Smith County constables and Smith County sheriff's assisted in the chase.
