A bank bag full of cash was taken from a Lufkin convenience store, and authorities need the public's help identifying the thief.

It happened on April 10th, around 11:30 p.m. at a store on the 800 block of North Timberland Drive in Lufkin.

Surveillance video shows a man entering the store, and buying  a pack of cigarettes.

While the store clerk processed the transaction, the thief noticed a bank bag in an open drawer behind the counter, and distracted the clerk by asking for scratch-off lottery tickets.

When the clerk turned her back to get the tickets, the man reached across the counter, took the bag from the drawer, and hid it in his jacket.

The clerk finished the transaction, gave the man his lottery tickets and change, and the man began to leave the store.

On his way out, the man dropped both the bag and his change, but the employee did not notice.

The man is described as a tall, thin, black male, and at the time of the theft was wearing a plaid, hooded flannel-type jacket, black tennis shoes, and a black hat with the word "EAST" in white letters on it.

If you can identify the man, call Crime Stoppers of Lufkin at (936) 639-TIPS or submit an anonymous tip at www.LufkinCrimeStoppers.com.

You never have to give your name and Crime Stoppers may pay a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest related to this crime.
