Authorities seize gaming devices in Rusk County

On June 23, 2010, at approximately 1620 hours, the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office Investigators executed a search warrant north of Tatum. The search warrant was executed on County Road 2210, which involved a long term investigation concerning illegal gaming activity. Rusk County Investigators seized approximately $4,000.00 in U.S. currency, and gift cards, along with 31 hard drives removed from electronic gaming devices.

The owner of the establishment was identified as Judy Gant, 67 years of age, of Tatum. Gant is facing charges of Keeping a Gambling Place, a Class A Misdemeanor. A Class A Misdemeanor is punishable by a fine not to exceed $4000; and/or confinement in jail for a term not to exceed one year.

Sheriff Danny R. Pirtle stated any information received concerning illegal gambling activities will be investigated and criminal charges will be pursued.
