Award-winning local firm finds value in drilling waste

Blake Scott has built a business on finding value in what once was considered worthless waste from oil and gas drilling.

His Longview-based Scott Environmental Services has developed patented processes to compost hydrocarbon-based waste on site to regrow grass around drilling locations or treat and recycle solid drilling waste for reuse as load-bearing structures — to build the next drilling pad or a lease road, for instance.

The work recently earned Scott recognition as “The Progressive Global Energy and Natural Resources Industry Leader” by the Oil & Gas Awards Judging Panel for the Rocky Mountain region.
