MARRION COUNTY, TN - Authorities are looking for the person who left a baby on the front steps of a church in Marion County, Tennessee.
He was found around 1 a.m. Saturday at the Bible Tabernacle Baptist Church on Suck Creek Mountain.
Clay and ben lewis say it can only be described as a miracle.
"No telling what would have happened if we wouldn't have walked out when we did," Clay said.
The two were spending their friday night at a friend's house when Ben became tired and headed out to leave.
He was stopped in his tracks by the baby's cries.
"I thought I was hearing things," Ben recalled.
But Clay also heard the noise.
The brothers took off running towards the sound and found the baby on the church steps.
Clay picked up the baby boy and held him closely.
"As soon as I picked him up, he shut it off like he had known me his whole life," he said.
The brothers guess the baby was outside in the cold less than an hour.
An ambulance rushed the baby boy to a nearby hospital.
He is healthy, but underweight.
He's only eight pounds and somewhere between eight and ten weeks old.
Clay and Ben say they firmly believe if they hadn't walked out when they did the baby wouldn't have lived through the night.
The baby boy is now in state custody.
Authorities will check birth records to see who may have given birth to the baby and left him at the church.
