TYLER — A while back, KETK told you about the designer drug, "bath salts."
It's a huge problem across the country.
And now it's a problem right here in East Texas.
On Tuesday afternoon, a KETK photographer saw a scene unfolding in Tyler involving bath salts.
Police tell KETK, bath salts were found in a very "confused" mans car, so he was just briefly detained...because...they're just not illegal.
You can buy them practically anywhere.
And they have some of the same effects as cocaine and amphetamines.
Dr. Rose with ETMC recently treated someone who had ingested the drug.
"Well they came in just acutely agitated and profusely sweating. Just very tremulous, couldn't sit still, very tacticardic...they just looked miserable," Dr. Rose said.
Rose says for those who have ingested bath salts, it's possible severe dehydration and psychotic tendencies may follow - putting that person or those around that person in danger.
So he advises to seek medical attention ASAP.
