Baytown police shoot man who threw concrete bricks at them

Baytown — Baytown police shot a man who threw chunks of broken concrete at them Tuesday after he had earlier beaten his ex-girlfriend, authorities said.
About 11:30 a.m., Baytown police were called about a domestic violence incident at an apartment in the 1700 block of James Bowie.
Baytown police said Shane Phillips, 35, went to the apartment to confront his former girlfriend about their recent break-up.
"He punched her in the face. She fell to the ground and partially lost consciousness," said Lt. Eric Freed with the Baytown police.
