The Better Business Bureau is warning credit card users of a new scam. They're calling it the 984 scam because $9.84 is being charged to the credit card from what appears to be a customer service website.

The website has a phone number to call for a 100 percent refund of the charge. But, when called, the charge does not actually get cancelled and your credit card information remains compromised, leaving it open for scammers to come back for more.

Since the charge is less than $10.00 and the website and phone number appear to be legitimate, the scammers are getting away with it.

The BBB believes another factor in the scam is people don't look closely at their credit card statements, especially small charges.

They offer some tips to avoid credit card fraud :

- Report lost cards and incorrect charges immediately.
- Never lend your card to anyone.
- Don't leave statements lying around.
-Use caution when ordering online.
