Beaumont authorities investigate 10th murder of 2012

One person is dead, two others injured and another man is in jail as Beaumont police begin the city's tenth murder investigation of 2012.

Officer Doug Kibodeaux with the Beaumont Police Department spoke with 12 News HD Reporter Pilar Arias shortly after three people were shot Sunday morning. Kibodeaux says it happened in the 1200 Block of Bolivar Street in Beaumont's south end. 911 dispatchers received numerous calls from people reporting shots fired.

Officers responded at 5:31 a.m. and found an 18-year-old male deceased behind the wheel of a silver car. The motor of the car was still running when officers arrived. The victim had multiple gunshot wounds to his neck and head. Investigators have asked that his name not be released pending notification of his family.

Two other male victims, ages 19 and 20, both of Beaumont, were outside the vehicle. Both men had multiple gunshot wounds. One of them was conscious and able to speak to officers about what happened. Both victims found outside of the vehicle were taken to Christus Hospital Saint Elizabeth. Their names are not being released at this time and their current condition is unknown.

Officers arrested Thomas Nguyen, 20, of Beaumont. He has been charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault He has been taken to the Jefferson County Jail.

A motive is not being released at this time but Officer Kibodeaux was able to say that crack cocaine was found at the shooting scene.
