Beauty queen sues to get crown back

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Testimony is set to begin in the trial of a lawsuit brought by a 17-year-old Texas beauty queen who alleges pageant organizers harassed her about her weight before stripping her of this year's Miss San Antonio title.
Domonique Ramirez is suing Miss Bexar County Organization Inc in an effort to regain her crown. The organization is a Miss America affiliate that runs the Miss San Antonio pageant.
Ramirez claims she was unfairly and wrongly deprived of the 2011 crown she won at last April's pageant.
In opening statements to a Bexar County jury Wednesday, her attorney, Luis Vera Jr., said organizers rescinded her title based on what he called "outright fabrications." Pageant organizers contend she was late or a no-show for personal appearances.
