Bees swarm as emergency officials respond to Lufkin wreck

An 18-wheeler carrying honey bees, overturned on U.S. Highway 69 South, south of Lufkin, near Spring Lake Drive.

The Department of Public Safety tells KETK, all of the bees escaped from the truck's cargo department.

The Lufkin Daily News reports, the bees swarmed the air as emergency officials responded to the accident.

State Troopers, Angelina County Sheriff's Deputies and the owners of the trucking company are all on the scene.

DPS has called out a professional bee keeper to help contain the situation.
