Benefit held for Kilgore woman killed in shooting
(KETK) - Kilgore, Tx — The Kilgore woman who was killed in a shooting Tuesday was remembered Saturday in Kilgore. Friends and family held a benefit to raise money for funeral costs. The last month has not been easy for the Vinson family.
Tuesday 32-year-old mother of three, Elizabeth Vinson, was shot and killed by her brother-in-law, Randy Vinson. This, less than a month after saying goodbye to her mother, Judy, who recently died of cancer.
"Three weeks before this her mother passed away and nobody expected to go through another funeral like this," said Kenneth Holbrook, friend of the family.
Despite their circumstances, the Vinson family is choosing to be strong, and their small community in Kilgore is doing everything they can to help.
"We really wanted to help the family out let them know that people are here to support them," said friend of the family, Dakota Stone. "If they need a shoulder, they have a shoulder."
The funeral for Elizabeth was held Saturday at 10 a.m. and directly after friends and family were invited to a benefit to help the family. There was a barbeque and live music, and all proceeds went directly to Elizabeth's funeral costs.
