TYLER - A feud is developing between Representatives Chuck Hopson and Leo Berman.
Rep. Berman says Rep. Hopson is not a true conservative, pointing to his liberal voting history.
Hopson denies Bermans's statements. He offers his endorsements by conservatives as proof.
Both representatives are up for re-election.
The first three attachments show Berman's argument against Hopson as a conservative.
The final attachment is a response from the Chuck Hopson campaign.

LEO DOES NOT STAND UP AND FIGHT FOR TEXAS WORKERS OR THE FOLLOWING WOULD NOT BE HAPENING IN TEXAS.
THIS IS WHY WE NEED HEALTH INSURANCE REFORM FROM THE FEDS, BECAUSE OUR REPUBLICAN CONTROLED STATE GOVERNMENT IS NOT STANDING UP FOR TEXAS WORKERS.
My daughters employer offered her health insurance at $200 a month and I thought that it was going to great for her to buy into until we read the policy. If she bought in, she would be paying $2,400.00 a year in premiums, a $3,000.00 a year deductable and a $5,000.00 a year co-pay all on a $1,200.00 a month income. WOW, OUT OF POCKET $10,400.00 BEFORE THEY WOULD PAY ANYTHING AND THAT DID NOT INCLUDE HER CHILD JUST HER. GLAD TO SEE OUR REPUBLICAN STATE INSURANCE BOARD IS LOOKING OUT FOR TEXAS WORKERS.
What is your definition of "Within Reason"? A Lie is a Lie. You are right though, if a person is "Not Responsible", that would make them "Irresponsible".
The record shows that Mr. Hoppson voted against the "Voter Identification" bill.
Which is in direct conflict with the statments he makes in his ad for reelection.
My question is, how can the Station Manager of KETK or any other TV Station that airs his ad, allow Canadates to air direct misrepresentations of the truth to misguide the people of this Community. I believe our local media has a duty to perform "Due Diligence" before allowing lies and misrepresentations be run on there Station. I know the Manager of KETK and have a lot of respect for him, but I am very disheartened by the fact that he allowed someone to directly mislead the people of this Community.
Wolves in Sheeps clothing.
Shame on you and SHAME on Mr. Hopson.
Doug,
John is right. The little disclaimers "Political Ad, Paid for by..." are the legal way of telling you that the ADVERTISER is responsible for the accuracy or lack thereof. The station airs ads by BOTH candidates and all parties. It is the informed voter who must confirm the facts, because too often candidates aren't very forthcoming about the little details. Never base your vote on who has the best ad. It's all theater.
Robert
If it's a paid political ad then within reason the station is not responsible for its content or accuracy.
