Texas have 4 on the top ten list...
The national jobs picture continues to be pretty bleak. But the Milken Institute, an economic think tank, has assembled a list of the top ten cities that weathered the employment storm last year…and 4 of the 10 are in Texas…
The Austin-Round Rock area came in first as Austin fashions itself as a clean tech industry powerhouse.
The Killeen-Temple area, including Fort Hood was a surprising second. The concentration of health care jobs and higher education, with fort hood as an anchor, were the keys to their growth.
A surprising 4th on the list is McAllen. The low labor costs along the border have made the city attractive to high tech companies around the country.
And ranking 5th was Houston. The oil and gas and healthcare industries have been joined by alternative energy companies to keep the Bayou City growing.
