Longview, TX — The goal of Longview having a central hub for public transportation took a big step toward reality Tuesday with the opening of bids for the renovation of the city’s historical train depot.
Mega Contractors of Fort Worth was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $1.744 million for renovating the facility into Longview’s Multi-Modal Transportation Center, according to Brent Brevard, city architect. That was well below the budget for the project, he said.
“The project has a $2.2 million budget,” Brevard said. The city will send the official bid tabulation to TxDOT for approval before sending the proposal to Longview City council for possible approval.
Brevard said he expects the proposal to come before the Longview council within the next month.
