Board orders ET doctor to stop treating chronic pain patients
An East Texas physician has been ordered by the Texas Medical Board to stop treating patients for chronic pain.
Dr. Lynn Louis Bourdon "non-therapeutically" prescribed drugs to 11 chronic pain patients and failed to maintain adequate medical records for patients, according to the agreed order Bourdon signed April 13 with the medical board.
Bourdon has had offices in Longview, Gladewater, Marshall and Daingerfield. He is a 1961 graduate of the Baylor School of Medicine.
The board said some of Bourdon's patients showed signs of controlled substance abuse or addiction at which time Bourdon continued to prescribe the medications.
Bourdon prescribed a combination of opioids, benzodiazepines and traquilizers in amounts greater than a 30-day supply to 11 patients, according to a complaint filed with the State Office of Administrative Hearings.
