WASHINGTON D.C. — Speak of the House John Boehner's bill receieved the 216 votes it needed to pass in the House.

The vote will now move to the Senate.

Under Mr. Boehner’s plan, the nation’s debt limit could be raised by $1.6 trillion in February — but only if , “the archivist of the United States has submitted to the states for their ratification a proposed amendment to the Constitution of the United States pursuant to a joint resolution entitled ‘Joint resolution proposing a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution of the United States.’ ’’
