'Bolts From The Blue...'

They're called "Bolts from the blue" - and it's exactly like it sounds.
The National Weather Service says it's when a lightning bolt travels, usually from the backside of a thundercloud, in clear air away from the cloud itself.
KETK meteorologists say there have been cases where people have been struck by lightning with nothing but blue skies overhead.
The lightning has been known to travel up to 25 miles away from the storm cloud.
And here in East Texas, KETK Live Doppler Skywatch Chief Meteorologist Scott Chesner is keeping track of all of the summer weather today.
Stay tuned to our website and KETK for the latest updates.
