Every year Brook Hill students in each grade pick a service project. So this time, they chose one that plays close to home.

First grade Brook Hill student Jett Moore is undergoing treatment for cancer, but Moore is feeling better than ever with a little help from his classmates. This year, students dedicated their annual service project to a strong friend. All 28 first graders donated a toy for a cancer patient at the Dallas Children's Hospital.

KETK spoke with a first grade teacher at  Brook Hill, Marty Smith, who said, "We had a tremendous amount of things. We overflowed a box, and then had to get into another one. So they did a great job". Moore helped drop off the goodies himself. He said, "I liked it so much. I like to care for each cancer kid". Moore even recruited two friends to go with him, which he said was the best, "My favorite part was having my friends help me deliver it". This of course, made Moore's whole experience even better.

This helped the entire grade learn a valuable life lesson. Smith said, "They learned that they were helping other children in another town, just because of the student here in our class".
