AS REPORTED IN THE NACOGDOCHES DAILY SENTINEL:
The Nacogdoches County budget for 2010-11 was unanimously adopted by county commissioners Tuesday morning.
A county tax rate of 43 cents per $100 valuation, the same rate it has been for the last four years, was also approved unanimously.
Nacogdoches County has a population of approximately 60,000 residents, and a lower county tax rate than other East Texas counties with similar population sizes. That's according to data County Judge Joe English presented on Tuesday.
Polk County has a population of roughly 47,000 residents and a tax rate of 62 cents per $100 valuation, and Angelina County has a population of 82,524 residents and a county tax rate of 44 cents.
