Burns: Money earns interest, keeps county from levying taxes

Panola County Commissioners met Monday morning in a regular meeting and heard the annual audit report and was told the audit shows the county has, “good, strong fiscal management.”

The court was also told that $865,000 more was collected in revenue than expected, and the county was $1.2 million under budget. Those funds together allowed $1.5 million to be added to the fund budget.

Commissioner John Gradberg, Precinct #2, said he was surprised to hear about the surplus.
