Burris rejected from Senate seat

January 6, 2009 - 4:52pm
WASHINGTON - A Democratic official says the Secretary of the Senate turned away former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris this morning, when he tried to take the Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama.
Burris, who was appointed by embattled Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, was told his credentials aren't in order. Burris says he's considering a federal lawsuit to force Senate Democrats to allow him his seat.
Ranking Democrats say any appointment by Blagojevich would be tainted. They say they will postpone filling the seat.
