Bush to mark progress of library construction
Dallas — Former President George W. Bush is set to speak at a ceremony marking the placement of the last construction beam for his presidential center in Dallas.
The George W. Bush Presidential Center will include his presidential library and a policy institute. It is scheduled to open in spring 2013. About 600 people are expected to attend the "topping out" ceremony Monday, including members of the construction team.
Also set to speak are former first lady Laura Bush, who chairs the design committee for the center, and the center's architect, Robert A.M. Stern.
The Bush center is located on the campus of Southern Methodist University. When completed, it will have an exterior of red brick and limestone. Landscaping will include the recreation of a prairie and a rose garden.
