Business continue to grow across East Texas, and Tyler is the hub of it all.

Tyler is a large retail and trade area, and that's why developers choose to open shop here.

"Tyler serves as the retail regional hub," says Heather Nick, Planning Director of the City of Tyler.

As you drive on Loop 323 and on Broadway Ave. you see construction underway.

Nick tells us, people can expect more traffic in South and North Tyler in the coming months.

"We are expanding we are growing, and that's just going to generate more activity because of new businesses," says Nick.

"A lot of people come here to trade and buy stuff, the primary trade area is around 400,000 about 440,000," says Mullins.

Tom Mullins of Tyler Economic Development council says, Tyler is a big market for retail and service companies.

Mullins says, with the national recession, many people have been holding back from starting a business, relocating, or expanding their business.

When developers look at the growth in the area, they find it promising.

"If you look at a map of Texas, and you look at Dallas, Shreveport and Houston, Tyler is the largest population center in the whole East Texas area," says Mullins.

Mullins says, when you look at the retail and trade circles, Tyler take in a lot of people.

"Hundreds of thousands of people, would rather purchase, so business, go to school, get medical services here than leave the region, and that's attractive to companies that are looking to make investments," says Mullins.
