Butterball Hotline

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, and not everyone will have a perfectly cooked dinner.

So let's say the turkey isn't cooking evenly, you can't quite peel the potatoes, and the squash still looks questionable.

Family is arriving in a couple hours, so who do you call?

Well, 12,000 people each year call the Butterball hotline on Thanksgiving Day.

Tara Groberski, a consultant for the Butterball hotline, said, "We want everybody to have a delicious, juicy, tender, golden, picture perfect bird, that has been safely cooked that they can enjoy with their family and friends".

Unfortunately, many of us have found ourselves dealing with Thanksgiving meal mishaps.

K-E-T-K spoke with East Texans who shared their most extreme Thanksgiving stories.

One East Texan said, "I ran to open the door, and it was a big fire! So I shut the door, and my heating element burnt out".  

Another shared, "I didn't know that they pack in the giblets, and I baked the turkey with the giblets in the bag".

The most dramatic story K-E-T-K heard was, "The grease caught on fire, and then the grease caught the cabinets on fire. All right before everyone was supposed to come over".

So after using a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, you may want to call 1-800-Butterball.

Groberski said, "We're all trained. I mean we all have food knowledge, and then we always go through what's called Butterball University".

Butterball's expertise can help out in most situations, and they do receive some interesting calls.

Groberski said, "You're not going to believe it, but yesterday someone called me from the shower".

So when in doubt, this turkey hotline will help you out.
