Camera captures candid reactions at fright fest

Longview — When we’re scared, our faces aren’t always at their best, but they sure are interesting.
That’s what News-Journal photographer Les Hassell noticed when he looked at his images of visitors to Graystone Haunted Manor south of Longview.
On Oct. 20, Hassell mounted a couple of off-camera flash units in a cornfield scene at the manor and hid behind a cornstalk as he waited for visitors to come by scarecrow Eric Loven. He then used a remote shutter to trigger his camera after he heard the sound of Loven’s boots hit the floor.
