Nacogdoches, TX — The Texas Wing of the Civil Air Patrol expects to open the D.H. Byrd Training Center in October after acquiring the Texas Army National Guard Armory in Nacogdoches, Col. Brooks Cima said.
“Nacogdoches was one of three cities we were looking at for our wing headquarters,” Cima said. “Our building committee believes the property in Nacogdoches offers the most for all three of our missions: aerospace education, emergency services and cadet programs.”
Before moving its southwest region headquarters from Waco, CAP officials must renovate the now-vacant building at A.L. Mangham Junior Regional Airport in three phases, Cima said.
