Capital murder indictment handed down in burning death
HOUSTON, TX — A Montgomery County grand jury on Thursday handed down a capital murder indictment in the case of an 8-year-old Splendora boy who was doused with gasoline, tied to a tree and set ablaze, but died years later.
Don Collins was a teenager in 1998 when Robbie Middleton, his neighbor, was attacked.
Authorities arrested Collins, then 13. He spent several months in juvenile detention but was released after prosecutors said they didn't have enough evidence to pursue the case.
