Cash for Clunkers program receiving mixed reaction
July 30, 2009 - 7:26am
UNDATED — A mixed reaction to the Government's new Cash For Clunkers program, with some dealers saying they are seeing an increase in sales, and others saying it's not helping much.
The program, which allows rebates for shoppers who turn in their older vehicles for more fuel efficient ones, went into effect over the weekend.
Wednesday, the government reported it had given out about 17-million dollars for just over 4-thousand new vehicle sales.
Congress has set aside 1-billion dollars for the program, which ends November 1, or earlier if the money runs out.
