Longview—With the 2010 Census right around the corner, the U.S. Census Bureau is looking to hire around 2,000 workers for their Longview office. The agency is currently recruiting and testing potential applicants for the temporary positions. Filling starts as early as January. Officials with the Bureau says it’s not only important to fill these positions, but for all of East Texas to participate in the next census. “Its very important that people stand up and they take part in this vital count,” says Kimberly Murphy with the U.S. Census Bureau. “It’s going to affect the next ten years of your life with regards to the allocation of more than 400 billion dollars in political representations.” The Longview office will cover much of the East Texas Area during the Census.
