Ceremony in Kilgore marks razing of segregation-era campus
Kilgore — A two-sided memory began to come down Tuesday.
“Fifty years ago, I was running up and down this campus,” Bill Harvey said, shortly after a ceremony marking the upcoming demolition of old C.B. Dansby School in Kilgore.
Built somewhere around 1930, the campus served as Kilgore Colored High School until it was renamed in 1956 after its first of two principals before closing 13 years later.
