Chambers man sentenced for bizarre murder plot

Houston — A Chambers County man who pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping and brandishing a firearm in a bizarre murder-for-hire plot involving a Ukrainian blonde has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.
On Monday, U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield in Beaumont also ordered 49-year-old David Sartin, of Hankamer, to forfeit $50,000 cash, a handgun, stun gun, laptop computer and a truck.
Sartin, whose only prior scrape with the law had been a traffic ticket, thrust himself into this predicament after visiting a "dream marriage" website that boasted the "hottest Russian brides," his relatives said.
