Chapel Hill football player undergoes brain surgery
Tyler, TX — Chapel Hill Junior Varsity football player was in the middle of his regular football practice on Monday.
After a hit with another student. He went back to the sideline to get into his next stance... for the next play.
He had collapsed right on the field. 911 Emergency was called immediately.
"EMS transported the student to the East Texas Medical Center where they found he had a blood clot on his brain," says Dozier.
Coaches and Athletic Trainers rushed to the students aide, along with Chapel Hill Fire.
The student is currently under careful watch and is in the intensive care unit.
"He was on a breathing system because when they do the surgeries, a lot of the times they reduce the vitals down to a point where they can do things and it doesn't traumatize the body," says Dozier.
He is from a long-time Chapel Hill family. His two sisters and brother graduated from Chapel Hill High School.
Dozier says, the mother spoke to the school counselor expressing her appreciation for everyone who did what they could to address the issue.
She adds.... It's all about prayers and support, for classmates, football team, and her son's speedy recovery, Dozier shares with KETK.
"This is one of the tightest communities and tight knit groups of people that I've seen in a long time," says Dozier.
We have the the football players name and photo, but will not release that information until we have permission from the family.
