October 13, 2008 - 5:13pm

CHEROKEE COUNTY - Residents of Cherokee County will have eleven items to vote on locally on election day.

Although there are eleven votes to be cast, only four of those races are actually races. The other seven are candidates running for office without opposition.

Running for District Judge are Daniel Boone Childs who is a Republican.

He's going against Dwight L. Phifer, a Democrat, who's been serving as District Judge for eight years.

For Tax Assessor, there's Linda Little, a Republican who's been the County Auditor for more than a decade.

Her opponent is Democrat Deborah Shreve. She worked under the current tax assessor for more than a decade.

The incumbent, Linda Beard, is not running this year.

For Precinct 3 County Commissioner, Katherine Pinotti, a Republican, is running against Democrat Moody Glass, Jr., the incumbent.

And for Precinct Two Constable Jack White is up against Democrat Mark Green.

But in the race for State Representative for District Eleven is incumbent Chuck Hopson and Brian Walker two men who have different ideas.

"We have all the water in the state, and all the other cities want to get it. So we want to keep control of our water," Chuck Hopson says.

"As long as we continue to re-elect the same people to represent us in Austin and D.C., we're going to continue to get the same results," Brian Walker says.
