CHEROKEE COUNTY - There are 3 East Texans hoping to take the county judge's seat in Cherokee County tonight.  Republican incumbent Chris Davis, Democrat Marlene Jowells, and Jacksonville mayor Robert Haberle.

You might remember, there was a recent stink raised about some campaign ads Davis ran in Jacksonville's newspaper - they didn't say that Davis paid for them, so Jowell filed a complaint against Davis with the Texas Ethics Commission.

Another turn this race took - back in may, Jacksonville's mayor Robert Haberle, who is a pretty popular guy in Jacksonville decided to throw his hat into the ring as a write-in candidate.

Today, we caught up with Haberle to see why he ran.

"I sure would appreciate the opportunity to go forward and carry some of our administrative experience from the city of Jacksonville to that level and see if we can get some of the successes and some of the momentum going at the county that we did in the city," Haberle said.

Join us tonight for updates on the Cherokee County Judge race.
