CHEROKEE COUNTY — A unique event took place in Cherokee County on Tuesday.

All Cherokee County officials were sworn into office, along with two who are the first women to be in their roles in the history of the county.

Kelly Peacock and Rachel Patton, the new County Attorney and District Attorney, respectively, in Cherokee County, are the first females to hold their offices.

According to Cherokee County officials, there are now nine women in key roles in the county. They are: DA Rachel Patton, CA Kelly Peacock, Commissiner Katherine Pinotti, Tax Collector Linda Little, County Treasurer Patsy Laffiter, County Clerk Laverne Lusk, District Clerk Janet Gates, JP Precinct 1 Brenda Dominy, JP Precinct 4 Vera Foreman.
