Angelina County (KETK) — A homicide investigation is underway in Angelina County, after the body of a missing woman was found late Saturday afternoon.
Angelina County Sheriff's Office tells KETK the body was discovered around 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Rivercrest.
Sheriff's say children were playing in a wooded area when they stumbled upon the decomposing body of a woman.
Angelina County Sheriff's Office, DPS and Texas Rangers were immediately called to the scene and began setting up a perimeter.
Sheriff's say the body had been there for several days and was beginning to decompose. Despite the state of the body, Sheriff's were able to identify it to be that of Elisha Henson, 30, who went missing in late April.
The cause of her death is unknown at this time; an autopsy has been scheduled. They say foul play was a factor in her death.
At this time they are looking for Henson's car, a green 1996 Toyota car, license plate number 073-HJN.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Angelina County Sheriff's Office.
