Chilean government asks for international aid following massive quake

Chile's National Emergency Agency said more than 700 people are now believed to have been killed by the major earthquake that struck on saturday.

President of Chile, Michelle Bahchelet, declared a "State of cCtastrophe" in central Chile.

The UN says Chile has now asked for international aid following the massive weekend earthquake.

President Bachelet surveyed the damage on the coastal town of Constitucion which was devastated by the quake and waves more than 1 feet tall.

The earthquake, one of the largest ever recorded, tore apart houses, bridges and highways in central Chile and sent a tsunami racing halfway around the world.
